The University of Toledo is committed to providing its employees a competitive, cost effective and innovative program of employee benefits. Due to this commitment, the UT benefits are going through some changes for the upcoming year.
You may have read in the UT news (link to article) that the UT BOT passed a resolution to waive competitive bidding on the selection of a TPA. UT’s main goal is to find a single TPA, Third Party Administrator, which will organize and process the bills for all of our health care plan designs. To save money for both the University and employees the University has chosen to contract with one TPA. Currently, we coordinate with several TPA’s to accomplish this which causes problems with data collection and effective customer service. By streamlining this process, we can further ensure timely and accurate service when it comes to your healthcare needs. It is important to remember that by selecting a new TPA we will not be changing the types or level of services covered. In our search for a single TPA, we are looking for an organization that will provide the following:
There are some other important healthcare changes that will be affecting employees. Things that are changing include:
***The increase to 15% in 2009-2010 will not exceed: Single $55.08
Emp. + 1 $110.16
Family $168.74
Though our search for a single TPA will not be concluded until 6 months from now, it is important to know what changes are being made to UT benefits and what is staying the same. Things that we are committed to not changing are:
For a complete list of changes, please refer to the 2009 Schedule of Benefits***.
Again, UT remains committed to its employees and continues to seek ways to make a more inclusive, effective and price-conscious health care plan. Please refer to the links on this webpage for further detailed benefits information or contact our Benefits Department at 419.530.HRHR (4747).
