    Initiative III

It is time to do more to make toledo a culturally vibrant and elegant city.

    Jazz It Up -
Jon Hendricks - jazz legend, distinguished professor, and recipient of the Legion of Honor, the highest civilian honor awarded by the French government - is a hard act to follow. The UT Jazz Initiative will ensure that his legacy of artistic excellence and musical innovation will continue for future generations of jazz greats and great fans.

This endowment will make it possible for renowned musicians and educators to come to UT to teach, perform and inspire students and colleagues alike - and to continue a musical tradition created by a master of his craft.

    Think About It -
They are known as thinkers, visionaries and dreamers. Their ideas challenge us to leave our comfort zone - and their presence reminds all of us that a great university is a place where freedom of expression is more than just a well-worn phrase.

The Great Minds Lecture Series brings men and women to campus to share their thoughts, insights and concerns about the worlds in which we live and work. They will come to talk politics, debate the social issues of the day, reflect on times past - and put the present into context. And they will remind our students, our faculty and members of our community that great minds do not think alike - and that is why the world in which we live is dynamic and ever changing.

    Play Smart -
Intercollegiate athletics at The University of Toledo is all about performance and character - both on and off the field. And great performances are in part inspired by the character of the surroundings in which they take place.

Renovations will turn Savage Hall, the current home of the Rockets men's and women's basketball programs, as well as a venue for concerts, commencement ceremonies and other major events, into a world-class arena. From sports medicine facilities and broadcast services to restaurants and meeting space, the new Savage Hall will be a fitting home for our student-athletes - and a source of pride for fans of all ages.

    Look Great -
Housed in the Frank Gehry-designed Center for the Visual Arts, adjacent to the Toledo Museum of Art, the Department of Art is already nationally recognized for its expertise in the fields of ceramics, drawing and photography. The Visual Arts Initiative will elevate studio arts to that same level of distinction - through support for exhibitions, guest artist residencies, scholarships and facility enhancements.
