Gateway Programs : Program 60 -- Special Program for Senior Citizens

The University of Toledo is strongly committed to providing access to educational opportunities for all community members. We are proud to offer Program 60, which provides access to learning experiences at The University of Toledo.

Individuals may engage in serious academic study or attend courses for general interest. This program provides educational experiences at reduced rates to individuals 60 years of age or older who have resided in Ohio for the past year. Enrollment is limited to space availability which is determined on the last day of the regular registration period.

Credit Programs and Courses

UT will waive tuition costs for seniors who wish to audit (register and attend, but not earn credit) college courses. Residents of Ohio who are 60 years of age or older may audit credit courses on a space-available basis. Students must apply for admission and register for courses through UT Learning Collaborative - gateway Programs. A Program 60 participant who wishes to earn college credit for UT courses must pay regular tuition and fees, unless the family income is less than 200% of the federal poverty guidelines and the participant has applied for federal financial aid (www.fafsa.ed.gov). All Program 60 participants are responsible for the cost of textbooks, lab fees, technology fees, facility fees and parking.

To Audit Credit Classes

Eligibility

1. The 'prospective participant' is 60 years of age or older
2. The 'prospective participant' has resided in Ohio for the last 12 consecutive months.
3. The 'prospective participant' has file for admission to The University of Toledo.

Limitations

1. Enrollment is limited to space availability as determined on the Friday before the semester begins.
2. The 'prospective participant' must meet the prerequisites for the class enrolled.
3. The 'prospective participant' is responsible for adhering to all academic regulations of The University of Toledo.

Costs

1. Parking, if needed, $25
2. Books may be purchased (cost varies)
3. Lab fees associated with the course
4. A technology fee assessed by some of the colleges
5. Facility fee (varies by semester)

To Receive College Credit

Eligibility

1. The 'prospective participant' is 60 years of age or older.
2. The 'prospective participant' has resided in Ohio for the last 12 consecutive months.
3. The 'prospective participant' is admitted to The University of Toledo.
4. The 'prospective applicant' has applied for federal and state grant-in-aid. This may be done on-line at www.fafsa.ed.gov.

Limitations

1. The 'prospective participant' must meet the prerequisites for the class enrolled.
2. The 'prospective participant' is responsible for adhering to all academic regulations of The University of Toledo.

Costs

1. Tuition. A Program 60 participant who wishes to earn college credit for UT courses must pay regular tuition and fees, unless the family income is less than 200% of the federal poverty guidelines* based on family size. *Poverty guidelines are adjusted every February for the current year.
